through lovely undulating green hills we drove from new york to pittsburg. ravi and owen drove turn by turn, helped (and often, left confused and hassled) by the female GPS! it was evening when we finally reached pittsburg and then drove around in circles up and down the hilly area where baby and adhaar saab live.

baba bounding up the steps leading to his dear sister's home which we located after a fair amount of wild goose chasing!
baby had cooked up a feast... (picture to be uploaded later) this was a boon for ravi, the vegetarian, who'd had to resort to fries wherever we stopped for food! at baby's place every dish on the table was 'edible' for him.. deliciously so! baby's hospitality went beyond her home. she packed us
puris and
tarkari for lunch during our trip to niagra.

following dinner we went to see the lights of the city from the hilltop. we talked about how if pittsburg were in nepal or india it would have become a pilgrimage place due to the confluence of two major rivers, and we'd be performing
shraddhas at the spot where the two rivers met!!

we drove past scenic rolling hills, along the lake eire shoreline (seemed more like sea!) and reached niagra to find it a warm and nice

the first thing we did on reaching niagra was eat. imagine
puri bhaji why the falls!!! complete with chutney and
chia latte in a thermos!

the falls just out of this world. we took the
maid of the mist ride

.. blackberravi works while waiting for the boat

we don our protective plastic coats...

...and head for the mist from the great waterfalls

... wet and happy couple...
after being below the waterfall, we went up and got up close and personal with the river plunging down to a misty, frothy depth

the falls' cool green waters .. almost look coloured

priya posed with owen....

... so kripa posed with a ravi clone.. ravi meanwhile was
businessing at the information centre

.. and so baba and i also did
'balkrishna sum haami matra ke kum' hug
the river behind the trees

niagra
ki budhi kali (kullee)
we drove back to pittsburg, and once again, arrived late.. in fact saying "good morning!"

early morning the sun was out in pittsburg, (which we were told has the distinction of being the "second-most" in many things.. including the most overcast city!).. we took advantage of that fact and just relaxed around in baby's backyard. pragati and bipin came to laze around with us. pooja was also there

meanwhile adhaar saab did a lot of weeding done, and we helped him quite a bit too .. gratis
: )

we also got a visit from a resurrected jesus

we posed for group photos

... before leaving 31 fox pointe

in the evening we went to the hindu temple and then on to an eatery for dinner before we left back for the night-long drive back to new york... of course the detour we took to cut time, actually landed us in a jam!!

and what a dinner it was at the chinese restaurant.. a treat again.. . three times in a row for ravi!
(we still have some pictures from baby's home.. have to get it from kripa to upload it to the blog)
