it's that red time of the year again.. a time for songs, dance and more importantly, great food! the teej ko dar season started with an invitation to mahesmama and sani maiju's place yesterday where all the panta chhori and buharis were invited. everyone shared dar. and maiju distributed lovely chura along with her dar!
saris were red.. handbags were red...
nails (of sarahana) were painted in teej colours on the spot by cholu
even the lone boy (bishesh) present (aside from mama!) was wearing red!
as the lights had gone off disregarding the load-shedding schedule, licchi mami decided to entertain the girls by reciting her 'poem-song' about teej . actually she wanted to dance along, and managed to do a couple of graceful twists and turns too with the copy in her hand!
when the electricity came on came on and mahesh mama put on the teej songs from his great music collection, then feet started tapping and hands and hips started swinging... here are jyoti and bandana...
this clip (unlisted in you tube) shows how much fun everybody was having... some dancing, some being coaxed to, some doing nainasti.. .even mami can be seen dancing .. along with licchi mami too.
some more dancing... with some adventurous moves too from the younger ones and the ones young at heart!
the buhari corner
mami and licchi mami having a sisterly tete e tete
hima with sing sing (dakshina) the only one in non-red garb!
the not so well sarahana with her 'we-can't-believe-you-are-a-grandma' rita
jyoti and prava along with others....
the red room in gyaneshwar
enjoying the music, gossip and great food later...
padma who arrived later missing all the dancing.. but not the dars!
bhai and didi catch up on talk
bandana looking beautifully relaxed in the evening sunlight...
bishesh resting in his grandma bindu's lap
abhilasha and cholu in their corner
and of course, kriti...
and that was the teej ko rahar at gyaneshwar that jumpstarted our family into the fun, loud, red and tasty teej mood
